Join the Pittsburgh Philharmonic
Fulfill your passion for performing classical masterpieces and outstanding contemporary works while connecting with fellow dedicated musicians. As a member of the Pittsburgh Philharmonic, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the vibrant inner workings of a community orchestra and share your love of music with others.
Our volunteer musicians come from a wide range of backgrounds and professions, including attorneys, teachers, professors, medical professionals, students, scientists, retirees, executives and business professionals. What brings us together is a shared commitment to making music and being part of a thriving musical community.
Auditions and Memberships
New members join the Philharmonic through an audition process. Auditions are typically held each January and August to fill available positions and maintain our substitute musician list.
Specific audition dates and available positions are determined by the orchestra’s needs at the time. Information about upcoming auditions, open positions, and application details will be posted here and announced in our newsletter as auditions approach.
We welcome talented musicians who are excited to perform, collaborate, and become part of the Pittsburgh Philharmonic community.
Rehearsals occur on Monday nights from 7:15-9:45pm.
